There have been some great movies made from Stephen King novels (The Shining, The Dead Zone, Stand By Me, Misery.) There have been some good movies made from Stephen King novels (Carrie, The Green Mile.) And there have been some not so good movies made from Stephen King novels (Cat's Eye, Silver Bullet.) In our opinion, The Shawshank Redemption is the best of them all. Based on a short story called "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" director Frank Darabont and an excellent ensemble cast headed by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman bring us an inspiring tale about the importance of hope. So as Andy Dufresne would say, get busy enjoying our Tribute to The Shawshank Redemption.
We don't want to give away our age, but we learned the alphabet from him on The Electric Company. Since then we've never seen a movie of his that we didn't enjoy. We don't know if the two things are related but you'll see what we mean about his movies in our Tribute to Morgan Freeman.
